• Handicap – The handicap you play your match off is the lower of (a) your course handicap on the day of the match or (b) your course handicap on entry deadline day (26th March 2023). The team handicap is half of the combined Course Handicap of the two players. (e.g. Player A with course handicap of 1 and player B of course handicap 7 have a combined handicap of 8, halved is 4. Therefore team handicap is 4). The pair with the lower handicap goes to scratch and the same reduction is applied to the other pair. (e.g. Pair 1, is Player A off 1 and Player B off 7, have a team handicap of 4 and Pair 2, is Player C off 10 and Player D off 15, combined handicap of 25, halved is 12.5 rounded to 13. The playing handicap is 90% of your course handicap. Following the 90% adjustment, the lowest player goes to scratch and the other three players receive strokes based on the difference between the full handicaps. (e.g. Lowest player is off course handicap of 7, 90% of which is 6.3 (6) and goes to 0. Player B off course handicap of 18, 90% of which is 16.2 (16) goes to 10; players C&D are similarly adjusted.)

Rules for all Matchplay Competitions

All matches must be played by the specified date WITHOUT EXCEPTION. It is important for both players / sides to afford ample time to complete your fixture.

All Gents matches are to be played off Blue Tee Markers.

For all mixed matches Gents tee off from the White Tee Markers and Ladies tee off from the Red Tee Markers. Gents must tee off on the odd numbered holes, ladies must tee off on the even numbered holes.

• The first named player/side has the responsibility to contact their opponent(s) & arrange a date for the match to be played. However, in the interest of avoiding difficulty with an approaching deadline, it is advised that both sides take the initiative to arrange the match as early as possible.

• All matches in each round must be played and the name of the winner entered for the next round on or before the specified date. Failure to decide a match before the specified date may result in both players/sides being disqualified. Note: This will be strictly enforced as per recent years.

• All Matchplay finals must be played on Finals Day as outlined in Annual Diary. Any member in more than one final must play one final on Finals Day and other final(s) before. No exceptions.

• It is the player’s responsibility to organise matches. All Queries or disputes are to be referred to the Club Matchplay Committee who can only be contacted at:
