PRESS RELEASE

New Director of Golf  Appointed to Killeen Golf Club, Kill, Co. Kildare.

Brian Cosgrove

Killeen Golf Club has appointed Brian Cosgrove Director of Golf.  Brian has been P.G.A. Club Professional at the club since October 2011. He owns and runs the Brian Cosgrove Golf Academy.  He is also a PGA Tutor at The Belfry since March 2009   "Brian  has been an excellent addition to the Killeen Golf Club team," said Noel Gavin Executive Director at Killeen. "His level of professionalism, golf expertise, and most importantly, his leadership skills will elevate the golf experience for our members to a new level."
A native of Bangor Erris Co. Mayo, Cosgrove, started out at Milltown Golf Club before completing his PGA qualification at Rathsallagh. From there, he developed his own academy based at the Athy Driving Range, and subsequently joined Killeen.  Cosgrove added, “The role of many P.G.A. Professionals has changed in recent years. We have had to diversify to stay ahead of the game and more importantly to help our golf clubs survive. After survival, comes growth and here in Killeen we look forward with great hope in taking the club to the next level, over the coming years.” Captains Tommy Warren and Marie Conlon have joined in congratulating Brian. Both said the members are lucky to have somebody of Brian’s stature to lead our wonderful staff and we look forward to a bright future in the club.
Killeen was established in 1991 and became affiliated to the GUI in 1992. At that stage the Club operated out of Four Lakes golf course, a privately-owned facility. In 2003 the Club, now renamed Killeen, was developed and re-designed to the championship layout that it is today.  The Club weathered the recessionary years (2008-2013) but had to introduce a number of financial measures in order to sustain itself.    The club is looking forward to sustained growth and financial stability in the future. This will enable investment in the course and clubhouse facilities ensuring the product provided to members and visitors is maintained and improved over time.
New machinery

To that end the club has just unveiled new additions to its fleet of course machinery, at a cost of just under €100,000. This will further enhance the superior quality of the course condition, as the club prepares to host some major events this season, most notably the SIG Ireland Killeen Pro-Am, Leinster Senior Cup Qualifiers, Top Golfer Senior & Junior Scratch Cups and of course the ever popular Open Week, which commences at the end of May.
